Vascular Lab - Carotid Duplex Ultrasound
This noninvasive technology has the ability to create images of the carotid arteries and to measure the speed of blood through them.
Some indications that might warrant this test are stroke or TIA (transient ischemic attack), cervical bruit, vertigo (dizziness) and syncope (drop attacks).
Stroke or TIA symptoms might include any of the following:
Numbness/ weakness of one side of the body, involving the arm, leg or face.
Temporary loss of vision in one eye.
Falling for no apparent reason.
Loss of balance or staggering.
Blurred or double vision with return of clear vision in a short time.
Difficulty in speaking or understanding spoken or written words.
Loss of memory, brief periods of time that cannot be recalled.
