Vascular Lab - Abdominal Duplex Ultrasound

Duplex ultrasound technology is a noninvasive procedure that is performed on the outside of the body and do not require the use of needles, catheters or dye. It has the ability to create images of the blood vessels and measure the flow of blood within them.

The ultrasound technology has the ability to evaluate for aortic or iliac artery aneurysms, intestinal angina (pain after eating due to arterial blockage), venous clots, renal artery blockage that may be responsible for hypertension (high blood pressure).

Some factors that can put the patient at higher risk for these problems include
individuals over the age of 45, heart disease, high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, elevated cholesterol levels, family history of vascular disease and abnormalities in the blood.
